Overland African Safari Tours

Overland African safari tours – or ‘overlanding’, as it is locally known, offers a vast selection of climates, environments and cultures to explore. Endless experiences and outdoor adventures are to be had, from sunny South Africa to the misty mountains of Uganda and Rwanda. Whether a relaxing luxurious journey or a rustic active adventure; a savannah experience hearkening back to the colonial era; or a mobile camping experience complete with bush shower, Africa is yours to discover.

Gain local insight and come face to face with an incredible array of wildlife; learn from local guides and experience the sights, sounds and mystique that Africa is famous for. Whether relaxing on the coast, tracking large game, meeting colourful characters or simply taking in what this incredible continent has to offer, we will help you find the tour that suits best.

The tours below are regular departures that run on the dates shown. These tours can also be run on a private group, or tailor-made basis if you would rather choose your own travel companions and specific dates.

A good place to start is by deciding between accommodated or camping – most tours do offer both options, but there are some exceptions. Otherwise, you can browse by safari type. Beach tours offer the perfect mix of sun-drenched relaxation with diving and other activities. Adventure tours are for the adrenaline enthusiasts, while student tours offer a blend of culture, wildlife and activity, they are well suited to students, but all adventure travellers are welcome! Our family tours are ideal if you are travelling with under-18s, as all on board will have opted in to travel with littlies.

If it’s highlights that you’re after, such as Victoria Falls, you can search these using our Highlights menu list, or if it’s a route, you can use the search button, which works just as well for abbreviations e.g. “Cape to Vic“.

Tour per country can be found under the Tours and Country menus; or you can use the search button – entering part or all of the country name e.g. “Bots” will generate a list of tours that include that destination.

Finally, our day tours are an ideal add on component to the start or end of your safari. As with our longer tours, we have chosen only those activities that we love for their excitement, value and ethics.

If you really aren’t sure, you can just browse among the tours listed here, or contact us and we will be only too happy to help!

Masai Mara Warriors
Drama unfolds daily in the Serengeti as a multitude of antelope and other prey animals are pursued by predators. Its neighbouring site, the Ngorongoro Crater, is a beauty to behold and a World Heritage Site that serves as one of the most important refuges for wildlife in Africa. In Northern Tanzania the red-robed Masai people walk the plains with their cattle as they have done daily for centuries, while the coast and Zanzibar await the traveller in search of culture and adventure.
