Covid-19 Safety Protocols

The safety of our clients and crew is paramount to us. For this reason, we are following the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) safety protocols. These guidelines have received the World Travel & Tourism Council's Safe Travels Stamp. The following guidelines are currently in operation on all of our tours.

Medical declaration

  • All travellers will be required to complete a Medical & Travel Declaration Form prior to check-in for the tour.
  • Travellers who have been exposed to Covid-19 within the prior 14 days will not be permitted to join the tour, unless they can produce a negative Covid-19 test result.

Temperature monitoring

  • Each traveller's temperature will be taken on arrival and on each morning for the duration of the tour. This will be recorded by the crew.
  • Any temperature reading above 37.5C will require the traveller to go into isolation. Prompt testing for Covid-19 should be sought. Should this prove to be negative, the traveller may rejoin the tour.
  • The same protocol will apply to crew.

Procedures for those displaying symptoms

  • Any traveller with symptoms before check-in, or during the tour, will be required to self-isolate. Prompt Covid-19 testing should be sought if possible. Should the test result prove to be negative, the traveller will be permitted to rejoin the tour.
  • The same protocol will apply to crew.
  • Should testing not be possible, travellers are advised to contact a healthcare professional.

While on tour

  • Staff will use the intercom system of the vehicle to communicate with travellers while in transit.
  • Travellers will be asked to enter the vehicle one at a time and to avoid touching seat backs. Seats must be taken up one at a time.
  • Travellers will be required to keep to the same seat for the duration of the tour, and to remain in their seat while travelling.
  • Vehicles will be run at maximum 70% capacity for groups of unrelated individuals. Private groups may occupy the vehicles at 100% capacity.
  • Friends and family members may be seated next to each other. All other travellers must be seated with an extra seat between them or one per two-seat row.

Protective equipment

  • Travellers will be required to wear masks while on the vehicle, and while in public places. Exception will be made when eating or drinking during designated stops.
  • The same will apply to staff UNLESS there is only one staff member in the cab, and the cab is separate to the body of the truck.

Sanitising and hygiene

  • All guests are required to carry their own sanitiser with an alcohol content of 70%, and their own masks.
  • Travellers will be required to sanitise their hands each time they board the vehicle. Staff members will administer sanitiser, or travellers may use their own.
  • Shoe sanitising on entry with spray or wipes should be practised and use of mats will be required prior to entering the vehicle.
  • Vehicles will not operate with any an air-conditioning system and the use of windows will be encouraged to allow circulation.
  • Floors, and frequently touched surfaces such as handles, head rests and light switches, will be cleaned and sanitised at the end of each day. All kitchen equipment will sanitised after washing, as it is used.
  • All vehicles will undergo a deep clean at the end of each trip.

Luggage

  • All luggage handles and corners will be sprayed or wiped with a disinfection spray before and after off-loading, UNLESS travellers handle their own luggage.
